Christ Died FOR ME

In Galatians 2.20 Paul celebrated the fact that Jesus gave Himself as a ransom for sinners. Actually, Paul said that Jesus gave Himself “FOR ME.”

The magnitude of this simple prepositional phrase (“for me” – for those prepositionally challenged) could be easily underappreciated.

Note that Paul didn’t say that Christ gave Himself for the world or for all of us (though other passages do assert this). He specifically stated that Jesus gave Himself for individuals.

The tone of Paul’s statement is that God’s love is intensely personal. Though He loves the world and died for the world, He loves me and died for me!

Now understand that our world is big. There are approximately seven billion people alive on the planet today, and there have been billions who have preceded us. In addition, astronomers now believe there may be as many as one to two trillion galaxies that exist.

We live in the Milky Way Galaxy and it’s huge by itself. In fact if we could travel at the speed of light (186,000 miles/second), it would take us 100,000 years to travel from one end of the Milky Way to the other. And there are a trillion such galaxies that God created (that’ll make your head spin).

Yet, God loves me so much that Jesus died for me personally! And you too!

Sometimes we may feel terribly insignificant and even invisible to those around us, but I assure you that God knows who you are and loves you as if you are the only one He created!
