MUSIC MINISTRY GROUPS/ENSEMBLES
CHORAL ENSEMBLES
Children’s Choirs (Wednesdays – 5:45 p.m.)
God, Music, & Me is a 30 minute, interactive musical experience for children ages 1 & 2 and a parent.
Three Year Old Choir helps threes learn through music how God loves them and their world.
Four Year Old Choir continues the musical and spiritual growth process with the addition of occasional performances.
Five Year Old Choir introduces preschoolers to the concepts of musical language and deeper concepts of faith through singing.
Music Makers (Grades 1 – 3) begins training young singers in how music relates to worship and offers them the chance to further develop vocally through special projects.
Young Musicians (Grades 4 – 6) explores the many ways children can contribute to worship through music. The choir seeks to prepare children for teen years by exploring new forms of church music while appreciating the past.
Student Choir/ Praise Team
First Baptist Church has a rich history of music ministry through students. Our Student Choir meets on Sundays at 4:30 and typically will look for new and different ways to do ministry. Our Praise Team and Band lead worship every Wednesday Night for the Student Ministry and regularly contribute to Sunday evening worship as well.
Sanctuary Choir
Several major performances a year and regular Sunday morning worship leading keep our adults busy in the Sanctuary Choir. They travel on occasion to minister to smaller churches and enjoy a good party often! They meet on Wednesdays at 7:10 p.m.
Adult Praise Team (auditioned)
Church music is changing every day. The Praise Team keeps us current on the very best of contemporary praise and worship music. They regularly contribute to worship on Sunday morning and evening.
Ladies Ensemble (auditioned)
Beautiful faces and voices wonderfully blended. The ladies sing everything from traditional to contemporary and regularly appear in worship. Melanie Jones is their director.
Men of Praise (auditioned)
An eight voice vocal band that spans from southern gospel to standard men’s classics and does it all well. They are well traveled and in demand making appearances at many church functions as well as outside engagements.
INSTRUMENTAL GROUPS
FBC Orchestra
The orchestra meets on Sundays at 8:30 and accompanies worship every Sunday morning. Membership is open to those who have average high school level ability. Music for each Sunday is available in the music suite every Thursday (sometimes sooner).
FBC Handbells
The Bell Choir meets on Wednesdays at 5:15 and is open to
those with advanced reading and rhythmic skills. They perform 3 – 4 times annually and have a great fellowship. They are planning a trip to Ridgecrest, N.C.
FBC String Ensemble
An occasional group for qualified string players.
