Meet the Music Staff

Christie Tyndall
Christie Tyndall has been a ministry assistant for about 10 years. She lives on a 43 acre farm with her husband and daughter, 13 goats, 4 dogs, 2 cats, 12 chickens, 10 ducks, 2 guineas, 1 parakeet and 1 goldfish. She likes reading and listening Christian rock music. Glenda Gross
Glenda is our music librarian and the reason we can ever find anything! She is a long time Sanctuary Choir and Ladies Ensemble member and plays handbells as well. Glenda is married to Ray who is also very active in the music ministry. She enjoys gardening, chaperoning church trips, working with the historical committee, and volunteering in the community. Bobby Sanderson
Bobby is a highly experienced music minister and likes motorcycles, woodworking, and football.  He enjoys all aspects of music ministry but set building for the drama involved and writing original songs and articles are his favorite parts.  You can contact him at musicman@columbusfbc.org.

 

Judy Sanderson
Judy is the interim organist at First Baptist and also teaches fifth grade reading and language arts at Hunt Intermediate School.  She dreams of a log cabin full of children's novels in the mountains of North Carolina.  She also plays oboe and generally stays busy trying to keep up with Bobby.

 

Shirley Ellis
Shirley is originally from West Point and is an MUW Graduate. In addition to her duties as pianist at FBC, she accompanies faculty and other recitals for MUW and in the community. She enjoys cooking, gardening, and reading. She serves as the administrative assistant to the director for Mississippi School for Math and Science. She can be reached at sellis@msms.k12.ms.us.

 

Marilyn Fields
Marilyn grew up in Columbus and is an MUW graduate. She is experienced in many forms of musical instruction to all ages; she enjoys shopping and reading in her free time. Jan Atkins
Jan is originally from Collins, Mississippi, but has been in Columbus since 1969 when she entered Mississippi State College for Women, now Mississippi University for Women. She graduated in 1973 with a degree in Business Education. She is married to Columbus native, Ronnie Atkins, and has three children, Brad Atkins (married to Melissa), Brent Atkins, and Beau Atkins, as well as two grandchildren (Madison and Collin). Jan enjoys all facets of the music ministry at First Baptist Church. She plays the piano, keyboard, and violin and currently serves as primary pianist for the Men of Praise and the Ladies Ensemble. Kim Kennedy

Kim is married to David and they have three children, Matt(18), Janie(16) and Dan(11).  She teaches four year old choir and fifth grade Sunday School.  Kim also enjoys reading and working in the library at church. You can reach her at KimKennedy5@yahoo.com

 

Kathy Good
Kathy Good is married to Ronnie and they have three children, ages 8, 11, and 13.  She teaches kindergarten at Immanuel Christian School and kindergarten choir at First Baptist.  Kathy has enjoyed playing the piano and keyboard at church since she was in high school.  You can reach Kathy at kgood90@yahoo.com.

 

Cheryl Williams
Piano is a passion for Cheryl, and playing for the glory of God is paramount. Her hobbies include gardening and sewing. Cheryl and her husband Doug have five children, all sixth-generation Texans, and three grandchildren who live in Texas.
