Shawn has been the Pastor of First Baptist Church since April of 2003. He is a native of Tennessee and a graduate of Union University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He pastored churches in Tennessee and Louisiana prior to coming to FBC Columbus. Shawn and his wife, Elizabeth, have two children: Ana (age 8) and Nate (age 6). A central verse for Shawn’s life and ministry is Jesus’ statement in Matthew 22, where Jesus stated that the greatest commandment is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” The next greatest, Jesus said, is to “love your neighbor as yourself.”
